Eased, Excited, and Enriched - February 02, 2005

i haven't updated in...oh wow...3 months.

life has been going on. i'm glad that my last entries didn't cause a total alienation from everyone.

so, what's going on now? well, this term is wonderfully easy, which hasn't really happened since my first. i have 3 general studies classes; dress and society 2, history of material culture 2, and general psych. it's the 3rd time i'm taking history of material culture...very sad. that class is quite easy for me to fail. the majority of the points come from unchallenging, busywork projects. i have to work to motivate myself to do them.

on the flip side, i'm looooving psych. it's so interesting, but after discussing developmental theories in the last class, i couldn't help but think, "so that's why i'm screwed up like that." it's my dream class right now. not only is it interesting to me, but there are no projects. it's all multiple choice quizzes and tests! i'm probably the rare person who'd actually get excited about that. the teacher's interesting too. she's this tough cookie that reminds me of my grandma. she's strict about her rules, and there's always someone in trouble, but she also does fun stuff. she's oddly likeable.

besides classes, lately i've been going salsa dancing on friday nights. i've always wanted to learn to dance--any type of dance--so this is a thrill for me. i'm in the third level right now, and i've got myself some latin music so that i can practice between sessions. the only thing is, when class is over, we're always standing around and sort of trying to dance. i need some guy friends in the area, so afterwards, i have someone to dance will. well, i'll see how that goes...

in home life, i feel like my family has gotten bigger. i guess it really has. my cousin's ex-girlfriend sharita and their daughter cydney are living with us now. sharita got kicked out of her grandmother's house. it's really a shame. her grandmother has all these way-off opinions of isaac, and she threatened to kick sharita out if she ever let isaac see his daughter again. anyway, they're staying with us right now, and i really like it. cydney is so adorable. she's 18 months now. she looks like she's 3, she's so tall. i'm kind of bonding with sharita too. she's quiet at first, but really random and silly deep down...kinda like me.

i'm also glad because this is giving isaac a chance to be with his daughter. he's maturing a lot. he sometimes gets frustrated though...he wants to be instantly bonded with her, and i think it's just going to take time. the vibe in the house is largely good though. i feel like our family is being enriched. and i can't help but hope that isaac and sharita get back together. they spend pretty much the majority of their time together now. well...we'll see about that too.

anyway, i must go!
